Hundreds run in 25th Cumbria 'Christmas pudding' 10k

About 650 runners have taken part in the 25th Christmas pudding 10k road race in Cumbria.

The event includes a 3k fun run for all ages and a 10k race which starts and ends at the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel in Great Langdale.

Event organisers say the money raised by the event will be donated to local charities.

The first run, organised by hotel worker Rod Berry in 1988, saw about 38 runners take part.

All of the runners that cross the finish line receive a Christmas pudding.

Ian Roberts, one of the organisers, said: "The idea we all have is that it generates some sort of income for the area, so the charities we're looking at supporting are going to be local."
