Cumbria man jailed for grooming girl, 13

John Graham John Graham suggested that he could be the teenager's pimp

A man has been jailed for six years after grooming a 13-year-old girl and suggesting that she should become a prostitute.

John Graham, of Edinburgh Road, Maryport, bombarded the girl for months by text message and on social media.

Graham admitted one charge of sexual grooming and 12 of possessing indecent images at Carlisle Crown Court.

He told the girl that he knew lots of people who would like to have sex with her and he would act as her pimp.

'Depraved and shocking'

The 54-year-old also sent the teenager sexually explicit messages before getting her to send him pornographic pictures of herself and told her to keep it a secret.

Judge Paul Batty QC described his behaviour as "truly depraved and shocking".

Cumbria Police's Det Con Andrea Davidson, who led the investigation, said: "The victim in this case was upset and distressed by what was happening and it had an effect on her life.

"Once these offences came to light, we were able to investigate Graham's actions and bring him to justice.

"The sentence today reflects the impact that he had on his victim."
