Flood-vulnerable A590 Dalton road gets £460K upgrade

Drivers are being warned of delays as work to upgrade a flood-prone road in Cumbria gets underway.

From Monday, temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A590 north of Dalton-in-Furness until the end of January while work is carried out.

The Highways Agency is spending £460,000 upgrading drainage along a mile-long stretch of the route.

No work will be carried out between 20 December and 6 January, the agency confirmed.
