A driver killed in a crash in south Cumbria was a "showman" who "loved entertaining", his family has said.

David Bebbington, 40, from Steward Avenue, Lancaster, died in hospital after his car left the A591, just outside Kendal on Sunday.

The father-of-two was the IT and communications manager for a medical supplies company in Blackpool.

His family paid tribute to a "friend to many people, who had a reputation for putting others before himself."

The statement added: "He had recently put up a notice in his workplace inviting anyone who would be alone over Christmas to spend the day with him and his family.

"His offer had been taken up by many people.

"This generosity of spirit was typical and earned the love and respect of many around him."
