A man who sexually groomed a 13-year-old girl and arranged to meet her has been jailed for 32 months.

Lucasz Lisakowski was arrested in August after he arranged to meet the girl in Carlisle City Centre.

The 30-year-old from Swan Street, Longtown, contacted her online and then "sexualised the conversations".

At a previous hearing he admitted inciting a girl under 16 to engage in sexual activity and meeting a child following sexual grooming.

As well as the jail term, Lisakowski was placed on the sex offenders' register, and a sexual offences prevention order will place restrictions on his use of the internet

Speaking after the sentence, DCI Rob O'Connor, of Cumbria Constabulary, said: "Lisakowski's arrest was as a result of a proactive operation to ensure that young children can use social media and remain safe.

"He engaged in sexualised conversation with a view to meeting a young girl for his own sexual gratification."

Isla Chilton, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "Lukasz Lisakowski instigated sexually explicit internet conversations and arranged to meet a 13-year-old girl.

"It is obvious from the evidence that his intentions were to groom and then sexually exploit a young girl."
