Dozens of sheep taken by rustlers in Cumbria

Farmers are being warned that sheep thieves have been targeting parts of Cumbria in the last two months.

Cumbria Police confirmed that 100 sheep and lambs were stolen from land near Haweswater in the Lake District.

The 48 ewes and 61 lambs were taken from Mardale Common between July and August. They had orange, blue and yellow ear tags.

Officers are urging livestock owners to report any suspicious vehicles in the area.
