Joseph Andrews dies after collision with HGV on A590

A man has died following a collision between a car and a heavy goods vehicle in south Cumbria.

Joseph Andrews, 19, who was driving a Vauxhall Corsa, was injured in the crash on the A590 at Low Field Bridge on Friday morning.

He was taken to Furness General Hospital and later transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital, where he died.

The family of Mr Andrews, from New Leys, Barrow, described him as "caring and big-hearted."

In a statement released by Cumbria Police, Mr Andrews' family said: "Joseph was a happy go lucky lad.

"He was very caring and big-hearted and sensitive to other people's feelings and was always ready to help anyone.

"He was always the joker and happiest when he was making you laugh.

"There is going to be a big hole left in all our lives and we will miss him forever."

The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

Cumbria Police has appealed for witnesses.
