Illegal fights organised in Carlisle, police warn

A brawl in Carlisle was one of a series of illegal organised fights in the city, police believe.

The Cumbria force said they were being arranged via social media, recorded on mobile phones and posted online.

A large group of youths ran off when officers responded to reports of a bout close to Keenan Park at about 16:30 BST on Tuesday.

Det Sgt Peter Goulston said: "The fights are understood to have involved children as young as 15."

There was "increasing concern" they would result in someone getting "seriously injured", he added.

Cumbria Police said anyone who organises, takes part or encourages others to take part will be committing an offence.

The force is appealing for information.
