The University of Cumbria is rolling out its bike loan scheme to its Carlisle campuses after a funding boost.

Currently the university's Lancaster campus has 48 bikes available for students and staff.

Following a donation of £1,500, it is expanding the scheme and buying five more bikes.

The bikes will be based at Fusehill Street and Brampton Road in Carlisle.

This scheme is part of Velocampus Cumbria, a programme of activities developed by the university and Students' Union to promote cycling and to help students and staff to get around more easily and cheaply.
