Raymond Pattinson Raymond Pattinson died in hospital

A man has denied killing a pedestrian in a road crash in Cumbria.

Raymond Pattinson, 20, of Edinburgh Road, Maryport, was hit by a car on the main road through Allonby on 25 March 2012 and later died in hospital.

Kyle Twentyman, 21, of Main Street, Allonby, was originally accused of manslaughter.

But, at Carlisle Crown Court on Tuesday, the charge was amended to causing death by dangerous driving, which he denied.

Mr Twentyman offered to accept a lesser charge of causing death by careless driving, which the prosecution rejected.

He will appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 18 November for trial.
