Cumbria bridge crash couple's death 'accidental'

The death of an elderly couple whose car plunged off a bridge into a beck in Cumbria was accidental, an inquest has ruled.

Alan Murray, 73, and his wife Barbara, 74, were travelling towards Appleby on 30 June 2012, when their car left the road and crashed upside down in a beck.

The couple, of Scattergate Crescent, Appleby, died at the scene.

South and East District coroner Ian Smith ruled the accident was caused by a "misjudgement" by Mr Murray.
