Boy attacked by dog in Cummersdale

A two-year-old boy has had an operation after he was attacked by a family dog near Carlisle.

The toddler was hurt on Wednesday afternoon at a house on Gilbert Road, Cummersdale.

He suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary for surgery.

Cumbria Police said the dog had been put in kennels while officers and social services investigated the circumstances.
