Scuba divers are searching a lake in Cumbria for the remains of a World War II plane.

Three airmen died when the Royal Navy Grumman Avenger crashed into Great Gable above Wastwater during a night-time exercise in January 1945.

Members of Keighley Sub Aqua Club found the aircraft's engine block in the lake during a dive earlier in 2013.

They have now returned to England's deepest lake in a bid to locate the tail section.

Graham Clay, from the club, said: "I've yet to find anybody that's actually seen it. So I don't know whether this is myth and rumour.

"However, we have had one or two leads as to where it might be."
