Lorry driver dies in M6 crash near Carlisle

A lorry driver was killed when his vehicle crashed on a slip road of the M6 near Carlisle.

The driver, who has not been named, was leaving the motorway at junction 42 at Dalston earlier, when his vehicle left the road and ended up on its side.

Police said the man is believed to be in his 40s and from the Carmarthenshire area of Wales.

The junction was closed to all traffic for a time to allow vehicle recovery teams access.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident and no-one else was hurt.
