Man dies in fall from Pillar Rock, Ennerdale

A man has died in a fall from a crag in the Lake District.

The 35-year-old from Lancashire, whose name has not yet been released, was with three other people when he fell from Walker's Gully on Pillar Rock in Ennerdale, on Monday.

The Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team, the North West Air Ambulance and an RAF Sea King helicopter recovered his body.

Cumbria Police praised the operation which took place in what were described as difficult conditions and terrain.
