William Edward Parker named as wall crash death driver

A man who died after his car crashed into a wall in Cumbria has been named by police.

William Edward Parker, 74, of Loop Road, Distington hit a stone wall at about 14:30 GMT while travelling to Workington on the B5306 on Monday.

Mr Parker was taken to West Cumberland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest will open in due course. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101.
