Cockermouth to host north and west Cumbria inquests

A new base will make the coroner's service in north and west Cumbria faster and more efficient, according to the county council.

The court, at Cockermouth's Lakeland Business Park, replaces Workington as the main venue for inquests.

The council said having a fixed base would make the process more simple and cost-effective than hiring other organisations' buildings.

It would also allow inquests to be concluded more promptly, it said.

Carlisle inquests will normally be held in the city, as before.
