Man charged after woman attacked in Ulverston home

A man has been charged after what police have described as a serious sexual assault in south Cumbria.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, was attacked in her home in Ulverston on Thursday evening.

Cumbria Police said the alarm was raised by her son after he found an unknown male in the property.

A 20-year-old man, from Ulverston, has been remanded in custody and charged with attempted rape, threats to kill and sexual assault.

He will appear at Furness and District Magistrates' Court on Monday.
