A man has denied causing the death of his girlfriend of 10 years who was found dead in a lane in Cumbria.

The body of Rose-Marie Valente, 49, of Woodside Crescent in Bingley, was discovered on Black Bull Lane, Brough, Kirkby Stephen, on 27 February 2012.

John Dent, 49, of Brough, denied causing her death while driving without due care and attention and while over the drink-drive limit.

He was bailed and is due to stand trial on 4 March at Carlisle Crown Court.

The court heard that the mother-of-four, from West Yorkshire, was visiting the area for the weekend just before her death.
