Cumbria escapes worst of snowfall
Council gritters have been treating all major routes
Drivers have been warned to take care in icy conditions in Cumbria.
There have been snow flurries, heavy on higher ground, but these are due to ease later. The county has mostly escaped the weather disruption suffered by parts of the UK.
Council gritters have been operating overnight and no problems have been reported on any major routes.
However, temperatures are predicted to dip well below zero later, bringing the risk of ice on roads.
