An inquest into the death of a Cumbrian man who was Tasered by police is to begin on Monday.

Dale Burns, 27, died in hospital after officers tried to arrest him on suspicion of criminal damage at his home in Barrow in August 2011.

About 50 witnesses, including police officers, medical staff and members of Mr Burns' family, are expected give evidence during the three week hearing.

The inquest will be held at County Hall in Kendal.

The events surrounding Mr Burns' death are also the subject of a separate inquiry by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

The IPCC is due to reveal its finding after the inquest, which will be heard before an 11-person jury, is concluded.
