Peter Benson, 26, died in hospital after his car ended up in a river
The family of a man who died in a car accident in Cumbria has paid tribute to a "much loved son".
Peter Benson, 26, from Ulpha near Broughton in Furness, died in hospital after his car ended up in a river in south Cumbria.
The vehicle left the A595 between the High Cross Inn and Duddon Bridge on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Benson's father, David, said he was well respected by his community and was committed to his family.
"Peter was a much loved son to me, his sister Jennifer and brother David," he said.
"He was a cherished boyfriend to Michelle.
"His sudden and tragic death has devastated all who knew this wonderful young man and we, his family, wish to be allowed to grieve his loss in peace and remember Peter as he was."
Cumbria Police has appealed for information about the incident, which happened at Low Lickle Bridge at about 16:30 GMT.
