Prison for knife throwing Cumbrian woman

A Carlisle woman who threw knives and scissors at police on the street has been jailed for 15 months.

Kathleen Joan Broughton, 51, was drunk when she threw the items from her balcony on Mayson Street, Currock, in June.

Carlisle Crown Court heard a taser was fired to subdue Broughton who was said to have learning difficulties.

Broughton, who had previous convictions for assaulting police officers, pleaded guilty to a charge of affray.
