Body in sea is missing angler Raymond Bull

A fisherman who went missing during an angling competition in Cumbria has been found dead in the sea, police said.

The alarm was raised on Sunday when Raymond Bull failed to return after the contest and a search of Parton beach near Whitehaven was carried out.

Cumbria Police said the 71-year-old, of Derwentwater Road, Whitehaven, was later found in the sea by family members.

A spokesman said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

"Police and the Coastguard attended the scene after family members had managed to recover Mr Bull to the beach," he said.

"Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Mr Bull was sadly pronounced dead at West Cumberland Hospital."
