Man critical after falling above Greenhow End

A man is in a critical condition after falling 33ft (10m) in the Lake District.

The 30-year-old was airlifted by the Great North Air Ambulance after the accident above Greenhow End, in Deepdale, on Friday.

The man suffered head and spinal injuries. He was treated by a doctor before being airlifted.

The Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was involved in the rescue. The walker was flown to the bottom of the valley.

He was then transferred to the air ambulance and taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.
