Maryport tree chainsaw vandals sought by police
A 200-year-old oak had to be cut down after it was damaged by vandals with a chainsaw in Cumbria.
The offenders also managed to cut another tree three quarters of the way through before it fell down later on Wednesday.
A tree surgeon was then called to cut down the 65ft (20m) oak tree in Memorial Gardens, Maryport.
A police spokesman said: "This was a senseless crime which could have caused very serious injuries to passers-by."
