A 15-year-old boy died when his bicycle was in a collision with a car in Carlisle.

Cumbria Police said Matthew Hamilton, from Carlisle, was cycling with friends along a path leading from Harraby Grove shortly after 18:00 BST on Sunday.

They said he was involved in a collision on Brunel Way with a car driven by a 44-year-old man.

The teenager was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in the city where he died from his injuries.

Police said specialist liaison officers were working with his family. They appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them.
