Windermere wall death crash passenger named

A passenger who died when a car left a road and hit a wall in the Lake District has been named.

Elizabeth Mary Robertson Thompson, 68, of Marlow, Buckinghamshire, was in the back seat of the Nissan Note.

The crash happened on the A592 Lake Road at its junction with Glebe Road in Bowness-on Windermere on Sunday afternoon.

Three other people in the car were taken to hospital, one of them by air ambulance.

The 66-year-old male driver, from Kendal, and front seat passenger, a 67-year-old man from Buckinghamshire, were both taken to hospital with minor injuries and later discharged.

A second rear seat passenger, a 77-year-old woman from Kendal, suffered serious back, neck and leg injuries and was taken to hospital by air ambulance.
