Whitehaven misconduct midwife Diana Warwick struck off
A Cumbrian midwife who caused a baby to fall to the floor and risked electrocuting a woman in labour has been struck off.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council had earlier found Diana Warwick guilty of a lack of competence and misconduct.
It related to a number of incidents in 2005 at the West Cumberland Hospital.
The most serious charge against her was that she failed to notice a plastic cot had come off its metal frame and when she pulled it the baby fell out.
In another case, she used monitoring equipment that was attached to the mains on a woman in a birthing pool.
The hearing was also told she also put her face up to a woman in labour and shouted "push".
The 56-year-old, from Whitehaven, has two weeks to appeal against the ruling.
