Fell walker dies in Cumbria after falling 200ft from a ledge

A man has died after falling about 200ft from a Lake District fell.

Officers received reports a man had fallen from a ledge while walking with a friend at about 14:30 GMT on Sunday, near High Street above Blea Water.

Penrith Mountain Rescue team, the air ambulance and RAF Kinloss found the man, who died at the scene.

Cumbria Police said they were working to identify the man, who is believed to be from the Preston area, and inform his family.
