A charitable company is to take over the running of a Cumbrian council's leisure centres.

From 1 April, Eden District Council's facilities will be managed by Hexham-based North Country Leisure.

The 10-year deal, with an option for a further five years, follows a lengthy tendering process.

Penrith and Appleby leisure Centres, Frenchfield Sports Centre and outdoor sports pitches at Castletown, are among the facilities affected.
