Carlisle lorry driver arrested over biker's death

A lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a motorcyclist died in a crash in Cumbria, police said.

The collision between the bike and lorry happened on the A689 near Hallbankgate, Brampton, at midday on Wednesday.

The motorcyclist died and his passenger was airlifted to hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

The 24-year-old truck driver, from Carlisle, was bailed until 11 October.
