Man killed in dual carriageway crash near Coventry pub

A man died when he was hit by a car on a dual carriageway opposite a pub in Coventry.

The 48-year-old was struck by the Audi on the Fletchamstead Highway next to the Phantom Coach pub in the early hours of Saturday.

The driver of the car was treated for shock and was interviewed by officers, West Midlands Police said.

Officers appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened at about 01:00 BST, to contact them.

Sgt Paul Hughes said: "The crash happened opposite a busy pub...there may have been a number of people outside on such a warm night."
