A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot in the face as he sat in a car in a village near Coventry.

The 32-year-old victim underwent surgery after the shooting in Keresley End, at the junction of Somers Road and Rathbone Close, at about 09:15 GMT on Tuesday.

Warwickshire Police said the victim was taken to hospital by the car's driver.

A 22-year-old man had been arrested on Wednesday evening, they said.

On Thursday evening police were given more time to question the man.

They said they were not treating the shooting as a "drive-by".
