Police investigating the disappearance of a teenager in 1991 have ended their three-day search of a park.

They said the searches had "revealed items of interest" which have been sent for forensic analysis, but would not specify what those items were.

Mother-of-one Nicola Payne, 18, was last seen on 14 December in the Henley Green area of Coventry.

West Midlands Police had been searching Coombe Abbey Country Park since Monday.

Det Insp Martin Slevin said that while the investigation was ongoing, with no positive sightings he "feared the worst that she is dead".

Despite several arrests, no-one has ever been charged over her disappearance. A nature reserve in Binley was searched in February.

Five people arrested in connection with her disappearance remain on poice bail.

There is a £10,000 reward available for information leading to Ms Payne's whereabouts, police said.
