Warwickshire Police officers injured in crash

A policeman has been seriously injured in a crash involving a police car and another vehicle in Warwickshire.

He sustained a fractured cheekbone and jaw in the accident, at the Astley Lane and Red Lane crossroads in Nuneaton, and had to be cut free.

His colleague, who was driving, received minor injuries in the crash, which happened at about 05:50 GMT.

The driver of the second car, a Mazda, also had minor injuries. The matter has been referred to the police watchdog.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
