Bulkington Coventry Building Society 'robbed by gang'

A gang disguised as street cleaners have robbed a building society taking a "substantial amount of money", Warwickshire Police said.

The Coventry Building Society in Bulkington was targeted at about 09:20 GMT.

A number of people wearing bright orange workmen's overalls entered the building on Leicester Street and threatened staff.

One of the men was carrying what appeared to be a crow bar.

Det Insp Tim Guilfoyle from Nuneaton CID said the robbers escaped in two grey cars, going the wrong way up a one-way street.

"Leicester Street in Bulkington would have been quite busy at the time the robbery took place and people may have noticed a commotion as the men got into the cars.

"But we would also ask them to think back to before the robbery and anything they noticed about the people who appeared to be street cleaning. We urge them to get in touch."
