Police have issued CCTV pictures of a man who took £300 from the bank account of a woman who died in a house fire a month earlier.

Officers said they were contacted by the mother of the victim, understood to be Amanda Richards, when she checked the joint account they had shared.

The fire, which was not suspicious, started at a property on Kildale Close in Coventry on 3 December.

Police said they are treating the withdrawal of the cash as a theft.

The victim's mother noticed the withdrawal on 9 January when she went to close the account, a spokesman said.

The man also requested a mini-statement about an hour later on the same afternoon.

PC Ian Williamson said: "We don't know how or why the man is in possession of this bank card but we need to find out - so if you know who he is, please give us a call."
