Pensioner killed in Rugby crash named by police

A pensioner from Warwickshire who was killed when he was hit by a car has been named by police.

Joe Roper was hit by a silver Ford Fiesta outside Tesco Express in Bilton, Rugby, at about 16:00 GMT on Monday.

He was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire by air ambulance but died on Tuesday morning.

His family described the 81-year-old as a "lovely man". Warwickshire Police said the driver of the car was uninjured, and appealed for witnesses.
