Heavy snow during rush hour in Warwickshire caused long delays on the M6.
The Highways Agency said snow that fell earlier had caused "multiple incidents" and there were delays for hours afterwards between junctions three at Nuneaton and one at Rugby.
The A444 Phoenix Way in Coventry was also closed earlier at the junction of Holbrook Way because of a crash.
Forecasters have said there could be more snow showers later.
Most of the earlier snow has not settled on the ground.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said paramedics had been called to two crashes on the M6 - one between junctions three and two southbound, where a car had gone into the central reservation, and another involving several cars between junctions one and two northbound.
Paramedics were also called to the Phoenix Way to a crash involving two cars.
No-one involved in any of the crashes was seriously injured.
The Highways Agency said it had treated the M6 overnight with salt.
Hollyfast Primary School in Coventry was closed on Monday because of heating problems.
