Driver dies when car hits tree in Stretton on Dunsmore

A driver has died after his car left the road and hit a tree in Warwickshire.

The crash happened on the A45 London Road in Stretton on Dunsmore at about 04:45 GMT.

A Warwickshire Police spokeswoman said: "The male driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, was declared dead at the scene."

The force appealed for witnesses to contact them. The crash led to traffic delays during morning rush hour.

Two ambulances, a paramedic area support officer and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the incident, which involved a Honda Civic car.
