Former Warwickshire Police headquarters put up for sale
Warwickshire Police has put its former headquarters up for sale.
The force revealed last year that it needed to save more than £20m and that Woodcote House at Leek Wootton could be sold off.
The site has outline planning permission to become a retirement or care home which was approved by Warwick District Council in 2011.
The police said it would keep a small operational base within the site, which was its home between 1949 and 2011.
Jim Stobie, Head of Estates Services, said: "The Leek Wootton site is no longer fit for purpose.
"It absorbs resources which can be put to better use in terms of delivering policing services to the public."
The force has not disclosed how much the site would cost to buy, but said it expected initial bids by December.
Warwickshire Police still currently does not have an official headquarters after senior officers moved from Woodcote House to the Warwickshire Justice Centre in Leamington Spa in February 2011.
