New cycle routes are to be created in Coventry using £7m of funding.

Existing routes will be upgraded and new ones linking the city centre with places like University College Hospital, Longford and Holbrooks Canley and The University of Warwick.

The city council said having more routes would help reduce carbon emissions and traffic levels.

Some of the money will be spent on cycle training, road safety and maps, the council said.

The funding has come from the Department for Transport.
