Water problems in Rugby prompt new pipes promise

Severn Trent is set to replace 1.2km (0.75miles) of water pipe in Rugby after problems affected several hundred homes.

The pipe, that serves the Addison Road area of the Warwickshire town, had burst intermittently over the past two days, said a spokeswoman for the firm.

A temporary fix has been put in place and engineers were now discussing plans to replace the entire pipe, she added.

Work on the pipe will start early next week.

The company said that over the past two days some homes had been without water or had had low water pressure problems.

It added: "We are doing all we can to make life as easy as possible, including supplying bottled water."
