The organisers of a music festival where a man died have said they are "deeply saddened" by the death.

The 24-year-old man was found unconscious in his tent at Global Gathering in Stratford upon Avon on Saturday.

Organisers said they were working with police to investigate the death, which was being treated as unexplained.

It is the first death in the 12-year history of the annual festival, which is held at Long Marston Airfield.

Paramedics were called to the scene but were unable to save the man, who has not yet been named and was declared dead at 16:40 BST.

More than 50,000 people attended the event, with some 30,000 camping at the site over the weekend.

A spokeswoman for the festival said: "Everybody at Global Gathering is deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends at this time."

Post-mortem examination results are expected on Tuesday.
