A minor injuries unit at a Warwickshire hospital is being closed overnight after concerns over patient safety.

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust said additional staff were needed to safely run the unit at the Ellen Badger Hospital in Shipston-on-Stour.

The department is expected to be closed from 21:00 to 19:30 for three months from Friday.

The trust said just five patients were treated at the unit between those times over the previous three months.

It added that patients were being directed to nearby Accident & Emergency units at Warwick Hospital or Horton General, while out-of-hours GP services were also available.

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust said it was advertising to fill the posts and the department would be reopened as soon as possible.
