Flood-hit Polesworth Carnival given new date

A 76-year-old village carnival cancelled because of flooding has been re-scheduled for September.

Polesworth Carnival organisers said on Friday the playing fields were partly "water-logged" after heavy rainfall and Saturday's event would not go ahead.

However, the event will now take place on 8 September. Although some activities will change, the procession will take place, organisers said.

Flood warnings for the River Anker on Saturday were later downgraded.

Last weekend, Coventry's three-day Godiva Festival was among events in the area cancelled because of rain and poor conditions.
