Fireworks and cans were thrown during a 10 minute stand-off between English Defence League (EDL) supporters and anti-fascist protesters in Nuneaton.

About 500 EDL protestors took part in the march around the town centre on Saturday and 60 anti-fascist protesters held a counter demonstration.

Warwickshire Police said the stand-off was quickly dealt with and the protest "passed off without major incident."

The force said five people had been arrested at the protests.

They were arrested on suspicion of a variety of offences including public order and affray.
