Derrel Weaver remanded for unlawful possession of firearm

A man has appeared in court charged with possession of a prohibited firearm after an armed police manhunt in Cornwall lasting more than 24 hours.

Derrel Weaver, from Widegates, appeared at Bodmin Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.

The 60-year-old was arrested after the search in woodland near Widegates on 28 June.

Magistrates said the offence was so serious it has to be heard at Truro Crown Court on 25 July.
