Marine rescues Tamar Ferry fall woman
A Royal Marine has rescued a woman who went overboard from a ferry connecting Devon and Cornwall.
The Torpoint Ferry between Plymouth and Torpoint put out a mayday call at 19:30 BST.
Coastguards said the marine grabbed a lifejacket and kept the woman's head above water until the crew of a Ministry of Defence (MoD) Police launch plucked them from the water.
The woman is being treated at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
Her condition is not known.
It happened as the ferry left the Devonport side.
Plymouth Moor View MP Alison Seabeck tweeted: "Quick thinking and fast action from RM."
An MoD Police spokesman said the launch was on the scene at 19:40 BST and the woman was on land at 20:04 BST.
No-one was available for comment from the ferry company.
